Frequently Asked Questions about Amani
What exactly is the Amani Festival? The Amani Festival is a once-a-year street fair celebrating the many cultures and ethnicities found around the globe. This all day event is held rain or shine in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. There are street performers such as a roving Mariachi band, Scottish bagpipe player, belly dancers, and others. Vendors sell foods, crafts, clothing, books, toys, etc. Food stands represent Thai, German, Chinese, Greek, and American cuisine - at a minimum. Other vendors sell wares from Latin America, Africa, the United States, Russia and elsewhere. During the day there are musical and dance performances on two stages: Irish steppers, belly dancers, Korean drummers, Reggae music, Mediterranean music and much more (see our entertainment schedule). There are separate activities for young children in Children's Alley and for the teen crowd, we have the TAM (Teen Arts and Music) area. Visit our photo gallery for pictures from past Festivals.
