“Different”
Different colors
Different race
Different religion
Different face
Different roots
Different hair
Different foods
Different stare
It doesn’t make a difference!

“If the Teacher Called on Me”
If we were al alike, Oh
How boring it would be
If the teacher called on someone
Everyone would say
Who me? Who me? Who me?

“Heart of Darkness”
Tall dark slender figures dance
around the open blaze that can be seen
for miles
beautiful shining beads sway violently
against their dark skin
their eyes so alive with the fire
Faces masked with paint sing
and smile
and animals creep just outside the
fiery glow
spear lay glinting and flashing
the sharp edges almost snickering
the stars watch them contentedly
and the rest of the world is
quiet except the grass whispering
to each other on the long empty
plains
for now the darkness waits
quietly for dawn. |

“Rosa’s Dream ”
Tears running down a child’s face,
She was teased because of her different race.
“So what if I’m different?” She said to her friend,
“All of this comparing has got to end!”
“We’re all the same, from language to color,”
“So let’s love, care ,and understand one another.”
That girl got tired of hurtful remarks,
“I’ll change it one day,” said Rosa Parks.
So let’s all learn from Rosa’s past,
and hope her dream will continue to
last. |

“Elements of the
World”
Peace is always sought
But can never be found
Unless you look inside yourself,
And hear that fuzzy sound.
Harmony is when nature,
Sings and shines about.
It makes you feel relaxed,
And worry without a doubt.
Happiness is when you feel,
Like giving the world a hug.
Instead of feeling grumpy,
And crawling up a rug.
Pride is when you try your best,
And are happy with the results.
Having fun the process,
Without getting an insult.
Fun is when you be yourself,
And stress and worry not.
Partying and practical jokes,
When the weather gets hot.
Love is that feeling you get,
Right inside your heart.
Being with someone special,
Is like a work of art.
Sadness is when your world is dark,
And you’re feeling kinda blue.
Thinking your world is doomed,
And there’s nothing you can do.
Craziness-when hell breaks out,
And everyone run a-muck.
They act silly and goofy,
Just like Daffy Duck.

“We Are The Same”
Out of
fine dust we were created,
Our faces painted different hues.
Some of us are toasted by the sun;
Some of us are pink –
But we’re still the one.
Each color made different for our bodies are merely art
To be observed, appreciated, not singled out
To be apart.
For when countries are at war
And the battle cry proclaimed,
Lives are taken –
Don’t be mistaken
The blood they shed is the same.
So when you peer into heavens
As the bleeding sun taints the sky,
Remember we’re all the same inside.
We are the same-both you and I.
